December 2020
In-Home Note:
The December In-Home will take place at the Outdoor Stations of the Nativity at St. Margaret Mary Parish. The First Station is located in front of the Parish Office building on Washington Ave. There is a box located near the First Station, take a booklet for your family to journey through the stations together or print a booklet at home. Before the First Station, begin with the opening prayer and read the introduction and catechesis listed below and continue on your journey. At each station, read the prayer and reflection that goes along with it. After praying at the Fourteenth Station, gather your family around the outdoor Advent Wreath to pray the final prayer. Visit the Parish website for more information on the Stations of the Nativity
Opening Prayer:
Begin with the Sign of the Cross. Pray together.
Jesus, you are constantly coming to your people, even when we fail to see you.
In each and every moment that we are blessed to recognize you here and now, give us the courage to sing with joy of your coming.
Amen!
Introduction:
Many people are familiar with the Stations of the Cross. But how many of you have heard of the Stations of the Nativity? In this lesson, you will be able to pray the Outdoor Stations of the Nativity as a family to learn about the events that led up to Jesus’ birth.
Catechesis:
The Outdoor Stations of the Nativity are similar to the Stations of the Cross in that they tell of the events that and the people who were part of the Birth of Jesus. The Outdoor Stations of the Nativity allow families to pray and reflect on each station of hope that lead us to Bethlehem and to a manger where the King of Kings lay. The Stations of the Nativity are based on the Gospels of Luke and Matthew and help us encounter Immanuel, God with us.
The artwork of each station was done by St. Margaret Mary parishioners.
Closing Prayer:
Pray the Our Father together
Challenge:
Submit a picture of your family by your favorite Station or by the outdoor Advent Wreath. You can email the picture to Amy Bolle at [email protected].
*Please note: If you have already prayed the Stations of the Nativity, please answer the questions and submit the date in which you walked them.
